‘SPRINGSTEEN: DELIVER ME FROM NOWHERE’ FEATURE FILM COMES TO THEATERS EVERYWHERE ON OCT. 24<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bruce Springsteen\u2019s \u201cNebraska\u201d will be explored with more context and depth than ever before this fall, with the release of a five-disc box set featuring many never-before-heard and previously-undiscovered recordings. \u201cNebraska \u201982: Expanded Edition\u201d will arrive on Oct. 17 from Sony Music, and include The E Street Band\u2019s fabled \u201cElectric Nebraska\u201d sessions and solo outtakes from the era as well as a newly shot performance film of \u201cNebraska\u201d in its entirety \u2014 and a 2025 remaster of the original album. Together, they represent a wholly unprecedented look into the sonic world of this improbable lo-fi masterpiece turned enduring Springsteen classic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNebraska \u201982: Expanded Edition\u201d is previewed today with a previously-unreleased version of \u201cBorn in the U.S.A\u201d (which was originally written alongside \u201cNebraska\u201d), featuring Springsteen backed by Max Weinberg and Garry Tallent \u2014 in a trio rendition from late April 1982. “We threw out the keyboards and played basically as a three-piece,” Springsteen reflected. “It was kinda like punk rockabilly. We were trying to bring \u2018Nebraska\u2019 into the electric world.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to \u201cElectric Nebraska\u201d \u2014 which features Tallent, Weinberg, Danny Federici, Roy Bittan and Stevie Van Zandt \u2014 the set\u2019s collection of \u201cNebraska Outtakes\u201d unearths Springsteen solo rarities including more songs from the original \u201cNebraska\u201d home recordings (\u201cLosin\u2019 Kind,\u201d \u201cChild Bride\u201d and \u201cDownbound Train\u201d) and tracks from a one-off 1982 solo studio session (\u201cGun In Every Home\u201d and \u201cOn the Prowl\u201d). Also included is a present-day performance film of the \u201cNebraska\u201d album, played in sequence for the first time ever and captured at New Jersey\u2019s Count Basie Theatre by Thom Zimny. Having never toured behind \u201cNebraska,\u201d Springsteen revisits the material more than 40 years later. “I think in playing these songs again to be filmed, their weight impressed upon me,\u201d said Springsteen. \u201cI\u2019ve written a lot of other narrative records, but there’s just something about that batch of songs on \u2018Nebraska\u2019 that holds some sort of magic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One week after the release of \u201cNebraska \u201982: Expanded Edition,\u201d the feature film \u201cSpringsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere\u201d will arrive in theaters from 20th Century Studios on Oct. 24 and chronicles the making of Springsteen’s \u201cNebraska.\u201d Directed by Scott Cooper and adapted by Cooper from Warren Zanes’ \u201cDeliver Me From Nowhere,\u201d the film stars Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen and Jeremy Strong as his longtime manager and producer Jon Landau \u2014 alongside Stephen Graham, Odessa Young, Paul Walter Hauser, Gaby Hoffman, Marc Maron and David Krumholtz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
